Due to the expansion in Respiratory Services Mary Ward is looking to recruit 3 x Band 5 Nurses.

Mary Ward is a 22 bedded Ward that cares for Respiratory patients with acute and chronic respiratory illness and disease.

Mary Ward nursing staff are trained to care for patients with a range of Respiratory conditions including those with COPD, Cancer or Respiratory Failure. Some of our patients have the need for chest drains, tracheostomies or need non-invasive ventilation, CPAP or high flow oxygen therapies. We adapted well to COVID 19 and changed our working practices accordingly.

We work closely with Critical Care Outreach and ITU to ensure that the patient has the most appropriate care, in the best environment with the skilled team they need. On Mary we have a supportive team of Consultants and Senior Nurses who work closely with the patients, their family and the Junior staff to ensure that a holistic assessment of the patient's need is achieved.

We care for patients from diagnosis, throughout regular admissions until in some cases the end of their life.

We work well with the palliative care teams both in the hospital, local Hospices and the community.

The Ward Manager, Sara Houghton has a keen interest in staff development, is an experienced mentor and preceptor with an extensive background in both Acute and Palliative care. Therefore she is in a great position to advise staff on their personal development plans.
