Job description
Excel Centres Stratford seeks a degree qualified English tutor to GCSE level. You must be Knowledgeable about GCSE English Language and aware of the scheme of work outlined in the National Curriculum. Must have at least 1 years teaching experience or equivalent experience at school, after-school club or tuition centre.
Job Description
- To be able to teach Key Stage 3 and 4 GCSE English Language
- Have a knowledge of the English GCSE National Curriculum
- Be fluent in both written and spoken English including grammar, punctuation and spelling
- Have a wide vocabulary with an understanding of linguistic convention for reading, writing and spoken language
- To be able to convey various writing styles for different contexts, purposes and audiences
- Able make use of discussion to elicit ideas
- Able to teach effectively how to communicate clearly through speaking and listening, with the ability to debate conversationally
- Demonstrable ability to communicate through argumentative, informative, descriptive and other means
- Literary critic, able to analyse text to GCSE standard
- Able to mark for excellence and follow national guidelines for marking to GCSE standard
Role and Responsibilities
- Able to teach effectively through concrete examples, making use of GCSE style exam questions
- To mark student’s homework
- To update your register and learning plan
- Communicate student’s progress to parents and advise them on the status of their homework
- Offer support whenever required
- To work as a team and support colleagues when needed
- To report any concerns to senior management and have understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
- To have good behaviour and classroom management skills
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree qualified in relevant field
- GCSE / A-Level English
- Experience of teaching, training or similar experience
- Knowledge of GCSE English Language and National Curriculum scheme of work
- Excellent communication skills including reading, writing and speaking
