Last year we launched our ‘4 day week’. The working pattern for this role is 4 days per week of 9 hours per day, based in our Bradford Head Office.

 

There is also a requirement to work 1 in 4 Saturdays, or 13 per year (for 6 hours) in Head Office.

 

The Energy Team at Morrisons Head Office is an exciting place to be right now. We have 500 stores nationally, 18 Manufacturing sites that produce a variety of goods and therefore pose a variety of challenges, 11 Logistics sites with vehicle fleets, a bill nearing £150m pa and stretching carbon targets. We need experienced and confident Energy Managers to come and join us and help us manage our road to net zero.

 

The Property Manager - Energy Manager will be part of a small Head Office team responsible for: 

  • Managing a £10m+ capital budget to deliver a pipeline of new energy efficient and low carbon capital projects across our sites and stores

  •  

    • Manage the delivery of programmes from identification to install, working to defined timescale and budget

    • Track  performance of projects against key performance indicators

    • Identify and implement cost savings improvements across the business

    • Ensure new specifications documented and worked into concept 

    • Ensuring Morrisons is kept safe and legal and ahead of any industry changes and new regulatory requirements

    • Supporting the wider team with data requests and reporting requirements 

    • Working across multiple stakeholders at all levels from store colleagues to Senior Directors

  • Aligning our investment programme to our Net Zero Target, from decarbonising heat, reducing impact of refrigeration, supporting the calculations around decarbonising our HGV fleet and utilising waste to energy 

  • Driving innovation through the business, introducing new technologies or data streams  into current operations and equipment 

  • Create a multiple year investment plan and strategy to decarbonise our manufacturing and logistics site operations, applying a holistic staged view to achieving targets alongside renewable onsite generation ambition. The successful applicant will have key skills required to successfully engage colleagues and external consultants on their part in our route to Net Zero. 

  • Optimising the operation of existing assets and set up process for future investment 

  • Supporting and tracking of Carbon targets (Morrisons Science Based Target/ Net Zero plan)

  • Ensure compliance with carbon and energy legislation and voluntary schemes to maintain the good reputation of the company

About You

To be set for success you will be driven, ambitious and a fast learner. You will also be able to demonstrate experience of  the following

 

  • Operational energy management experience across multiple locations in large multi site organisations for a minimum of 3 years

  • Previous experience delivering large energy efficiency investment programmes (preferably £1m+) across multiple locations 

  • Managing external service providers and consultants 

  • Engage with people at all levels, demonstrating problem solving & analytical skills and the ability to take initiative, identify priorities and implement actions quickly 

  • Sound data analysis and energy monitoring skills across multi site portfolio 

  • Managing external contractors and consultants 

  • Project management across multiple internal stakeholders and suppliers 

  • Resilience and a positive attitude will be important qualities through this exciting journey
