Female Buddy Support Worker in Huntingdon in Huntingdonshire

Fantastic opportunity to support a SEN girl with communication difficulties.

4 - 10 hours per week
Between £12.00 and £18.00 Per Hour

What are you going to do:

Job Role:       *Female Support Worker and Communications Buddy 

Location:       Huntingdon  

Hours:            At least one evening per week on a regular basis 4.15pm – 7.30pm two weekend days and/or evenings at weekends per month.               

Pay:               

£12.50 Monday-Friday 

£13.50 weekends

£18.75 bank holidays

Background:

A new and exciting role for someone with a keen interest in communication to support *Hannah a busy and active girl 15yr old girl.  *Hannah has many activities and enjoys getting out and about, she especially enjoys her child modelling, horse carriage riding, and swimming.  She also enjoys attending her weekend sports club and listening to music on YouTube.   

*Hannah has Cerebral Palsy which causes involuntary muscle movements.  *Hannah is non-verbal and dependent on an AAC to help her express herself.  She uses a push manual wheelchair, a power chair with supervision, hoist, and has a specialised diet. 

*Hannah has an established small team around her, you will support her alongside a PA or support worker on a 2:1 basis. A full team of therapists work with *Hannah including, SALT, OT, and Physio. You will work closely with them, following their routines and care plans. Physio involves 20-30 minutes a day relaxation, stretching, and exercises.  AAC tutors at school involved in training the support team. She has a conductive educator who visits some weekends and in school holidays.

Role duties:

  • Support Hannah at least one night after school and two weekend days and/or evening per month on a 2:1 basis.
  • Model and encourage *Hannah to use her communication aid.
  • Follow therapists care plans
  • Assist at mealtimes
  • Bedtime routine

This is a fantastic role which would suit someone who loves to be kept busy, enjoying a variety of activities, and someone who has an interest or experience with an AAC Grid pad or similar.
