Entry Level Medical Electronics Technician
Salary Band 4 Annex 21
Starting salary £14,494 which represents 60% of the top of Band 4. In subsequent years the salary will increase to 65% in year 2, 70% in year 3 and 75% in year 4.
At the end of 4 years there will be a substantive post as an Entry Level Medical Electronics Technician.
Working pattern Full-time 37.5 hours per week (this includes day release and study time).
An Entry Level Medical Electronics Technician vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work within the Medical Equipment Management Service based at St Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight, maintaining medical devices. The post provides the opportunity to work on a range of medical equipment, ensuring it performs to manufacturer’s specifications and ensuring it is available for patient use.
Based in the Medical Electronics Department, part of the Medical Equipment Management Service, the post holder will carry out acceptance and in-service checks on a range of electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical medical devices including medical gas devices, and pressure relieving equipment.
The post holder will be expected to record the results of all checks on an electronic equipment management system. The work involves travel between all Isle of Wight NHS Trust sites and to other locations where equipment maintained by the Medical Equipment Management Service is based.
Accountable to the Director of Finance, a successful candidate will be responsible for the routine maintenance of electromechanical medical devices used throughout the Trust which includes Acute, Community, Mental Health and Ambulance services.
Applicants will have achieved GCSE grade B/5 or above in Mathematics plus four other GCSE subjects at grade C/4 or above, including English and a science-based subject. There is a part-time commitment to attend CECAMM at the Isle of Wight College, this will involve day release every week for each academic year.
Applicants will have contemporary knowledge of analogue and digital electronics.
The Medical Equipment Management Service is a small friendly team looking for a new Technician who is organised, professional and has the ability to think strategically and logically with good communication skills.
