STARTING DATE: August/September 2021 subject to DBS clearance and adequate level of mandatory training
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
We have several bank positions for Immunisation nurses working on the School Aged Immunisation Programme.
We have an excellent opportunity to join our school immunisation teams to make a difference to child health in Walsall. VUK are the NHS commissioned providers of the childhood flu programme and the school aged immunisation service. As the provider of these programmes VUK are responsible for the delivery of Fluenza.
Our services are primarily delivered on-site in schools for children of primary and secondary age, however, we also deliver these immunisations in community clinic settings. These clinics may be held during evenings, weekends and school holidays. Due to the community nature of our services driving is essential and you must have access to a car.
This position will be on offered on a bank contract from September 2021 until January 2022 with the possibility of ongoing work. The hours of work will be from 0830 until the end of the school day, or the completion of the immunisation session. You must be able to arrive on time and stay until the end of the school day.
We are seeking nurses with immunisation experience ideally with a practice nurse, school nurse or community nursing background and an ability to commit to at least two shifts per week. Weekly shifts can be flexible to fit your availability. Due to the specialist nature of the work VUK are offering a very competitive hourly rate, paid mileage and a friendly and supportive working environment.
If you are an RN with access to transport, an interest in child health, and ideally, experience in giving immunisations, we would love to hear from you. You will have the opportunity to work both autonomously, and as part of a small team to organise, plan, deliver, and evaluate immunisation and vaccination programmes for this school - based programme.
We require you to have mandatory training in place which should include Safeguarding Children and Adults at level 3 as a minimum, FGM, Prevent and Immunisation Training.
This post is subject to all training being completed or with a completion date set prior to starting. Without this training, you will not be able to undertake this role. We can provide training for any of these modules that are not currently in date, with prior notice. Relevant knowledge of Health and Safety issues is essential. We also require all clinical staff to show evidence of immunity to hepatitis B, and measles, mumps and rubella immunity prior to commencing work with us.
There will be substantial access to children; therefore, an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check will be required and sign up to the update service is part of our requirements. Interviews may be held remotely on Zoom or Teams due COVID-19 social distancing measures.
