About The Role
 
We're recruiting for Nursery Operatives to work within our growing and packing  teams in our manufacturing site in Lowlands, which is a nursery.. It'd be your job to ensure our products are grown, cared for and packed  at a high standard in a safe, efficient and hygienic environment for our customers to buy. It's fast paced, high volume and extremely demanding.

Reporting into a Team Manager you will:
  • Carry out product maintenance such as quality and specification checks through weeding, cleaning products trimming back
  • Use trained skills to complete all tasks to ensure that quality products are produced for customers
  • Responsible for operational tasks including picking, collecting and  movement of goods by using manual l handling equipment (MHE)
  • Complete all tasks efficiently in order to reduce waste, reporting all issues if they arise
  • Handle and package products in accordance with all relevant  Safety standards
  • Comply with company policy including Health and Safety, Security, Hygiene standards and cleaning schedules
  • Work flexibly and as part of a team to support all areas of the business 
About our Lowlands Nursery, Spalding.
 
At Lowlands, we grow 3 million plants every year - and during some peak weeks  in the summer, we pack and send out as many as 150,000 plants a week. On site, you’ll also find innovative rainwater harvesting, 17,000 cubic metres of water storage, and hundreds  of plant varieties ranging in size  from 9cm pots to 7.5 litre pots. We might not  be directly #FeedingTheNation here - but we are playing our part in keeping it green and fresh, while delighting our customers at the same time.

About You
The good news is you don't need to have any experience to apply for this role. (It might even be your first job!) We'll give you full training and support.

But we do look for:
  • Someone who can work in a nursery environment, where you will be exposed to outside elements which includes temp fluctuations from -10 degrees and upto 50 degrees in the greenhouses during the summer periods 
  • Someone willing to work in wet and windy conditions which cause muddy and dusty environments depending on season and the weather conditions, this includes  slippery and icy conditions along with exposure to UV radiation
  • Someone who can work in a fast paced environment and isn't afraid of a little hard work
  • Someone who loves to work as part of a team
  • The ability to maintain concentration throughout shift where tasks are repetitive
