Children and Young Peoples Winter Vaccination Programme - help protect children from Flu.

Our School Aged Immunisation team will be working to deliver the Winter Vaccination Programme for an extended flu campaign. This is particularly important this year due to the impact of Covid 19.

Hours

This is offered as bank work to support a 3 month programme of work starting in September.

Within this period we can offer flexibility in terms of how many total hours an individual works, but we will need staff who can regularly commit to working during this period and ideally can work complete days. You will need to be able to work predominately from 9am till 4pm on each day that you work at different school sites around Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. You will need to be able to work at least 2 days each week.

These roles will enable one of the biggest public health exercises to children and young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.(LLR) If you are highly motivated, with a passion and drive to ensure children and young people are protected from disease we would love to hear from you.

The cohort for this exercise is vaccination to of all school age children, from Reception to Year 11. The roles will be predominately working from school sites, although there may be some additional off site activity to help children access these vaccinations.

It is anticipated that these roles will be deployed entirely within the School Aged Immunisation Service. However, there may be occasions where staff are asked to support with other vaccination programmes with the Trust. Being flexible and adapting to this requirement will be an essential requirement.

We are looking for individuals who can work well in a busy environment, keep their cool and can work to actively engage and reassure school aged children being vaccinated. Working with children in this way will require staff who identify strongly with our leadership behaviours of taking personal responsibility, always learning and developing, recognising and valuing peoples’ differences, working together and valuing one another. You will also need to be able to work flexibly and effectively with enthusiasm and compassion to meet the health needs of a diverse community.

Knowledge of immunisations schedules in accordance with national recommendations and having experience of delivering on large scale immunisation programmes would be useful but not essential.

If you do not already have immunisation experience, we still want to hear from you but you must be willing to undertake training for the specific programmes.
