The Product & Business function is an integral part of the UK&I region and pivotal in ensuring the success of our profit and revenue contribution to our overall business. The Graduate 4P & Data Analyst will be responsible for providing business planning and data analysis support to the business management team with a key focus on improving productivity on reporting and data output. This includes analysing Excel data and automating analysis to aid 4P team in P&L weekly cadence, pricing analysis with summary on proposed actions, automation of market data outputting to PowerPoint and day to day support for the wider commercial 4P team. The role will involve working with existing and new data sources, loading data into tools for analysis or presentation (e.g. dashboards), and presenting actionable insight to the 4P team and extend across the UK function.

Lenovo is currently on a transformation journey and are looking for a talented individual who can understand data, manipulate, output data into useable format and above all improve productivity through automation. They will need to be a High Energy Resourceful Operator (HERO); the ability to embrace change, challenge the status quo, find creative solutions, and a motivated self-starter.

The role will focus on two key parts:

  1. Require the ability to prepare, analyse and present, data and insight with emphasis on automation. Key requirements:
    1. Extract - data from source, both structured and unstructured (Required).
    2. Technical - deep understanding of Excel (pivot, power pivots, charts, statistics, macros), visualisation platforms (e.g. PowerBI, Qliksense) and programming (e.g. SQL) (Required)
    3. Automation - ability to utilise macros to automate reporting within Excel and capability to extract data to PowerPoint for presentation (Required)
    4. Extract - familiarity with languages and tools like Python, web-scrappers and other tools to extract data from novel sources (Beneficial).
    5. Analysis - experience with statistical analysis, visualisation, and presentation (Required).
    6. Analysis - storytelling through data (Beneficial).
    7. Analysis - bringing the story to a conclusion, presenting learnings, and next steps (Beneficial)
  2. Support the wider 4P team in their core 4P roles summarised below but not limited to:
    1. Pricing & Promotion Budget Management ("GtN")
    2. Promotional activity & funding
    3. Maintenance, management and publishing of bid pricing & quick bid grid
    4. Forecasting and planning of bid pricing / spend.
    5. Overview and tracking of promotional plans working with the relevant business managers
    6. Oversee monthly price list issuing
    7. Monitor inventory value
    8. Business analysis into weekly performance, including sell out track, load, and ASP vs. forecast
    9. Assist with aged inventory and WOI analysis

Position Requirements

  • Ideally 1-2 years practical data science/analytics experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or Economics
  • High level of Excel skills with strong automation capability and ideally familiarity with Qlikview or similar platforms, and programming e.g. SQL.
  • Highly analytical approach: be able to read data, query data and produce accurate data reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience with data tools and programming languages
  • Dynamic yet task-focused - able to adjust focus based on business priority and able to see data extraction and analysis, to insight and action.
  • An empathic approach - Ability to integrate context into data analysis from other areas of business.
  • Creative - not afraid to create and be open to critic; see new ways of doing things; resourceful to find work arounds and alternatives.
