Document Advisor
Birmingham

As a Barclays Document Advisor you will be undertaking a pre scan check on documents presented under import /export collection and letter of credit transactions received from Correspondent Banks, direct from customers or domestic branches. It’s an entry level position which would introduce you to banking and can give you an opportunity for progression. There would be a lot of independent working due to the nature of the work, however there would be a wider close knit team you can lean on for support.

What will you be doing?
• Process Import and/or Export Collections and Letters of Credit work accurately and efficiently to meet agreed service levels and volumes and maintain customer service
• Performing pre-scan checks on inward mail received under Collections & Letters of Credit and where necessary
• Verifying that certain criteria have been met and endorsing bills of exchange/bills of lading
• Issuing release notes
• Being responsible for verification of correspondent bank and branch signatures
• Preparing scan cover sheets
• Performing necessary anti-money laundering checks including responsibility for identifying fraudulent documents
• Monitoring TradeFlow Work Groups to identify work received from the Processing Hub (Barclays Shared Services – BSS) 

What we’re looking for:
• Ability to apply themselves to problem solving and analysing situations
• Proven knowledge in the use of a PC
• Proven experience of communicating by telephone, face to face and written
• Good organisational ability

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Familiarity with procedures for security and confidentiality 
• Previous experience of working in a Trade environment is desirable, to enable the jobholder to understand the workings of the different products
• Previous experience of working in a customer-servicing environment is desirable, to enable the jobholder to understand the types of issues and problems which occur

Barclays Snowhill is at the heart of the professional district and commands a workforce of around 1000.
