Manual Credit & Fraud Underwriter - 12 month FTE
Northampton


As a Barclays Manual Credit & Fraud Underwriter you will be part of the Lending Operations Team within Customer Care. Our products range from Personal Loans through to Credit Cards to Overdrafts, alongside Point of Sale finance applications. The Underwriting department is fast-paced, working together to ensure accurate and prompt lending decisions, obtaining and analyzing information to deliver good customer outcomes using credit reference agency, fraud detection data and affordability calculation tools.

What will you be doing?
• Making lending decisions and problem solving in a timely manner using various system applications under the guidance of Credit, Fraud and Financial Crime policies
• Providing optimum levels of customer and client service by demonstrating Barclays values and through effective communications on a written (email) and verbal (telephony) basis
• Managing own time and productivity effectively to meet strict service and quality requirements in a rapid and fast paced environment
• Carrying out affordability checks with customers to ensure applications are in line with our responsible lending criteria and within regulatory guidelines
• Working with other areas of the business to ensure the correct outcome for customers
• Communicating with customer and clients regarding applications, providing support and advice to ensure all relevant customer information is captured 
• Understanding and resolving customer and client queries at first point of contact


What we’re looking for:
• Financial Services Industry knowledge and good customer service skills 
• A broad understanding of a credit and fraud lending environment
• Understanding of credit reference agency information e.g. Experian/Equifax is preferable

Where will you be working?
Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton. Plans to further develop this Campus-style location are under way to allow for a real collaborative work environment.  Based just off the A45 it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
