About our ‘New Pet’ Proposition

Welcoming a new pet into the family is full of excitement, and our customers are at their most engaged in these early months - but there’s so much to learn that it can also feel overwhelming, particularly if it’s a first pet. That’s why our ‘new pet’ proposition aims to create the simplest, most positive and most memorable experience for new pet owners (and their new family members!).

The proposition currently centres on our VIP Puppy and Kitten club as a vehicle to build and optimise our relationship with this highly engaged group of customers but, it covers all areas of the business that are specific or tailored to this group. Working across a matrix structure, as the New Pet Proposition Manager, you will influence product range and pricing, in store experience, services and content just to name a few.

And whilst this proposition is a really important and valuable one for customers, it’s also important and valuable to the business. Our ‘new pet’ proposition is key to the acquisition of customers early in their pet journey and so increasing their lifetime value and loyalty with our brand.

About the role

As the New Pet Proposition Manager, you will be the driving force behind our ‘new pet’ proposition.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Owning and developing the customer and commercial proposition through use of customer, market and business insight
  • Working with our Marketing team to drive customer engagement and meaningful communications
  • Working with supporting functions to land Propositions simply for colleagues and brilliantly for customers
  • Driving a ‘group mentality’ and benefit, working closely across our Pets and Vets side of the business to understand and optimise the interdependencies with the goal of delivering the best value to our customers and our business

About your experience

You’ll have a strong commercial background having developed commercial propositions in a customer facing services environment. Ideally this will have included membership subscription models.

You’ll also have experience of formulating ‘value creating’, pragmatic strategies and the ability to turn data into actionable insights.

Key experience/attributes include;

  • A track record of major change projects and making things happen
  • Good organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload to achieve timescales
  • Self-driven and motivated to achieve results
  • Ability to work collaboratively across a broad range functions and stakeholders
  • People management skills – for direct team and cross-functional “virtual teams”
  • Outstanding communication skills – able to influence and negotiate successfully
  • Financial understanding, including experience of P&L management
  • Excel analysis and modelling for commercial opportunities
  • A passion for pets (including the many we have in the office)
  • Veterinary knowledge would help, but is not mandatory
