An exciting Opportunity has arisen in the Ophthalmology Theatre and Recovery Department, we have vacancies for 1 full time Band 5 Nurse/Perioperative Practitioners.

The department is a very busy unit undertaking all aspects of Adult Ophthalmic Surgery and Paediatric Ophthalmic Surgery in the Eye Theatres. The unit consists of three theatres, and a recovery unit.

The Ophthalmic Theatres presently operates between the hours of 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday, with hours worked flexibly to suit the needs of the service and staff rotating through all areas of the ophthalmic theatre suite. There is an on call commitment for weekends and bank holidays

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and caring registered practitioner who is able to demonstrate a high standard of clinical practice to join this very busy theatre and recovery suite. You must possess excellent communication and team working qualities with a willingness to learn new skills.

Theatre and Post Anaesthetic Care skills with a recognised Theatre qualification is desirable but not essential, as our patients undergo ophthalmic surgical procedures following a variety of anaesthetic techniques.

Excellent training opportunities are provided with external and internal development and a preceptorship programme is also provided during the first year for newly qualified staff.

We are looking for individuals who will enjoy working as part of the multidisciplinary team, and experienced individuals should ideally be proficient in scrub and anaesthetics. Theatre is a fast paced environment where a positive attitude, energy and innovation are welcomed.
