Summer Internship, Consulting Strategy& London, 2022

Job description

Our Consulting practice is focused on results, supporting our clients in solving important problems so that they can transform their business. We use our understanding of how business works and a knowledge of how the right technology in the right place can create competitive advantage.

Our clients' needs are what lead our thinking and drive our ambition. Our goal is to be our clients first choice on the issues that matter most because we deliver outcomes that matter. Clients might want us to help them manage disruption and transform their business to adapt in an ever changing world, or draw up a sustainability strategy that aligns their commercial objectives with broader environmental and social concerns.

We work with clients across the Financial Services, Government and Health Industries and the Private Sector and include household names from Government Departments, NHS Trusts, retailers, banks, multinational telecoms operators and energy companies.

You’ll get to work closely with the best in industry, finance and Government in the UK and collaborate with clients and colleagues globally, bringing fresh insights and motivation to the problems they face.

Strategy&

Strategy& is our Strategy Consulting practice. You’ll work on interesting and varied assignments – from helping a company identify attractive new markets, advising a private equity client on game‑changing investments, to supporting industry leaders solve their toughest corporate and mergers and acquisitions challenges.

We organise ourselves into two market-winning teams – Corporate Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Strategy. Both our teams work together with clients on long-term strategic issues. In both teams you will work with top-tier public and private sector clients from a range of industries, and in our M&A Strategy team you may also work alongside private equity firms and other investors.

As we return to normal, you will have opportunities to work abroad on global projects or to do an international secondment.

Corporate Strategy

Corporate Strategy works with the most senior members of organisations to help them answer their most strategic questions. As part of our team of problem solvers and creative thinkers you’ll put your analytical skills to the test, creating strategic solutions to address the complex challenges faced by business leaders across all industry sectors, where no two problems are the same.

Our projects tend to be between a few weeks and months, enabling you to work on projects across many different industry sectors in your first year to build your exposure and experience quickly.

M&A Strategy

M&A Strategy works with top global businesses to develop innovative strategies, sometimes in the context of a transaction. This means you will get to work with both global corporations as well as private equity firms and other investors across all sectors. With us, you will get to know the key value drivers of a company quickly, combining your analytical skills with creative problem-solving.

Our projects tend to be four to six weeks long, so you’ll typically do ten plus projects across different sectors in your first year, broadening your expertise.

As a graduate you’ll be aligned to one of our two teams, but you’ll experience working in both as we often resource projects together. This is most common at the junior levels as beyond this individuals are more strongly aligned to their allocated team. This provides you with the opportunity to transfer your skills across our Strategy& practice. Our teams work together to bring the best to our clients, and we offer a unique, powerful, and distinctive combination of capabilities that allows us to develop and deliver world-class strategies.

Programme

Our Summer Internships offer high calibre students the opportunity to experience work and life at PwC, and gain a valuable insight into our business and culture. You’ll work alongside graduate trainees and experienced professionals on live and interesting client projects. You will be doing real work on real clients so be prepared to get stuck in.

What you'll do

You’ll work with your team to create new approaches to difficult problems, bringing a new perspective compared to your seniors. Depending on the project, you may be required to develop and deliver presentations, analyse large quantities of data, conduct interviews with subject matter experts, or more. Every day will bring about new opportunities and challenges, and no two projects are the same.

What you'll gain

Discover what a career with us is all about, and boost your employability. You’ll find out first-hand if this is the career for you - do well, and you could be offered a graduate job. Working alongside specialists, you’ll work on client projects to give you the best insight into what we’re about. You’ll have the opportunity to build networks with your colleagues and peer group.
