Simply put, you will apply your Data Engineering expertise to drive technical innovation that will accelerate this great business into the next decade and beyond.
Responsibilities
Analysis, isolation and fix of discrepancies between datasets.
Improving data quality of existing datasets and ensuring the high quality of new datasets
Improving data throughput both incrementally and radically
Working equally with data from legacy systems and data from modern eventing systems
Developing and enhancing ELT pipelines including simplifying configuration and orchestration
Ensuring data pipelines are monitored for functional correctness, SLIs and anomalies
Bring new ideas and technical choices into the team
Evidence based decision making
Work to clarify ambiguous or incomplete requirements
Own a solution through to completion once agreed on
Course correction as required
Collaborate in team activities: Code review, standards setting, retrospectives, continuous improvements, show'n'tells, backlog refinement.

You will join an established team of data engineers working cross-functionally alongside data science and BI teams. The data platform is a key pillar in is our transformation journey. We love cloud native, we prefer building the right solutions over buying generic ones and we embrace automation, monitoring and testing in all things software, infrastructure and data.
You have experience with cloud computing and developing data processing pipelines including ingestion, cleaning, transformation, monitoring, data quality profiling and more. You have worked with large-scale batch processing as well as near-real time stream processing. Best practices in data and software engineering are dear to your heart. You are not dogmatic, you can balance strategic and tactical development and know how to develop and deploy quickly and iteratively in a team context.
You have extensive experience with numerous technology stacks and approaches. Consequently you can make informed design choices as easily as day to day decisions including ways of working, practices and technologies. You see high quality tested code as an enabler of development speed not an afterthought. You are seeking to take more responsibility, provide solutions and own these collectively within the team through to deployment. You like to develop your skills and value a culture where learning and experimentation are promoted.
Technical Skills
We are happy for you to retrain yourself to work with our current technology portfolio if you have worked with similar technologies previously. For example if you have GCP skills this is a good indicator you could switch to AWS and ramp up your skills effectively.
