Summer activity host in Southcombe

As activity host part of your role is to encourage participation, be engaging and interactive with our child and adult visitors alike. Ideally, you will have a passion for entertaining and creating memorable moments for children and their families. The role would suit university/collage students with a background or some training/experience in the performing arts, teaching or any child support/care role. Being a committed team player with a cheerful, confident and approachable personality is essential.

30 - 40 hours per week
Between £10.00 and £11.00 Per Hour

What are you going to do:

Activity hosts are seasonal team members working approximately 28 hours a week to cover a 56 hour week between them during the school holiday period - including weekends and bank holidays. You must be prepared to work 1 weekend day and any bank holidays that fall on your work days. The working day starts at 9:30am and finished at 5:30pm.
The start date is early July - date to be arranged according to availability.

Job description

Main Areas of Responsibility:
General
• To deliver our children’s activity sessions stimulating participation, fun and enjoyment for visiting children to join in and their adults to watch.
• To take an active role in assisting with the pre-event preparations, planning of the activities.
• To support the development of the activities and support the creation of improvement ideas.
• To maintain high standards of cleanliness, order and presentation of all areas but specifically the activity areas and equipment, ensuring a welcoming, safe, hygienic and attractive environment for all visitors.
• To act as a team leader and role model during activities. Use effective communicate with children and their parents/carers in order to maintain appropriate standards of behaviour.
• To deliver a consistently high level of customer service so that customer expectations are exceeded.
• To maintain high standards of personal presentation and personal hygiene.
Housekeeping and Safety
• To ensure that appropriate safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
• To ensure that activity equipment is appropriately set up, displayed and in good order for visitors safety.
• To ensure that all activity equipment is returned to the agreed storage area after each activity.
• To carry out checks of all equipment, while setting up before the start of each session.
• To participate in the general end of day routine as directed.
Customer Care
• Provide high standards of customer care and service at all times so that the reputation of Fairytale Farm is enhanced and service targets achieved.
• Be pro-active in encouraging guests to engage appropriately with and gain enjoyment from the activities and event facilities.
• Assist visitors with queries or direct to someone who can in a prompt, professional, courteous and friendly manner, so that customer care standards are met and complaints kept to a minimum.
Health & Safety
• All staff are expected to observe all health and safety at work regulations as set out in accordance with statutory obligations.
• Following procedure to ensure the safety and security of visitors, colleagues and property.
• Report accidents and first aid requirements as directed.
• Report any unsafe practices or broken equipment to the manager immediately.
• Use all equipment as trained observing all safe practices, so that accidents are avoided
• Follow risk assessments and COSHH procedures
