Virtual Video Game Therapist for Adolescents with Special Education Needs
Passionate and dedicated therapist to use video game playing and game development as a platform to work with high-functioning autistic young people (10-18) who have social or emotional difficulties that prevent them from accessing school environments.
What are you going to do:
Conduct individual therapy sessions using video games and video game development as a therapeutic tool. Develop treatment plans and goals for clients and track progress towards achieving these goals
Use a variety of therapeutic techniques to help clients build technical skills, social skills, self-regulation, and emotional awareness.
Assess and monitor the mental health needs of clients, and make referrals to other professionals as necessary. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals involved in the care of clients to develop and implement treatment plans
Stay up-to-date with current research on using video games in therapy and adapt treatment approaches accordingly
Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation

Extra information
Bachelor's or Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work or a related field or currently training as a psychologist, psychotherapist support worker or mental health professional or have experience working with adolescents with special education needs.
Familiarity with video games and video game development and technical skills.
Understanding of the unique needs of high-functioning autistic young people with social and emotional difficulties.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with game development coding or design aspects.
Experience working with adolescents in a therapeutic setting.
Certification or licensure in a related field.
