Political economy research internship

An opportunity to conduct the entire research process, from designing a methodology, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, analysing findings, producing written outputs, and promoting research uptake among the public and policy-makers.

What are you going to do:

Research topic: The political economy of financial flows in the Niger Delta, Nigeria


Objectives: 


1. To collate publicly available data on financial flows to government institutions focused on the Niger Delta, and calculate total revenue flows.
2. Compare results with revenues from oil and gas, and explore the political economy of resource flows.
3. Produce a research report and policy brief to present findings and recommendations for policy makers, and develop and launch public communications plan.


Outputs:


1. A database collating data on financial flows
2. A research report with quantitative and qualitative analysis
3. A policy brief summarising research findings and presenting recommendations
4. A communications strategy to target citizens and policy makers

Extra information

The role is best suited to an individual with experience conducting research in the fields of politics, economics, or international development, either in an academic or professional environment. Demonstration of good quantitative and qualitative research skills, as well as writing ability, are essential. The role is part-time for three months, and can be completed either remotely, in-person from our London office, or a mixture of the two.
