Job Overview

Are you committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for a Humanities Teacher to join our fantastic well-established team at Longdon Park School.

About us

Longdon Park School opened in June 2015.  We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7 to 18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour primarily with a diagnosis of ASD. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment where our young people learn to accept responsibility for their actions, make positive decisions and display pro-social behaviour. We are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

Longdon Park is going through an exciting period of growth which is why this position is now available.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to children, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.

About the Role

The Humanities Teacher will hold responsibility for teaching three disciplines History/Geography/RE across the school. Ideally you will have experience across two key stages and secondary teaching experience is preferred. There is potential for leadership responsibility for role across the school.

The ideal candidate will successfully set a vision and targets for pupil success and be confident in using their knowledge and expertise to monitor progress, give regular feedback and encouraging our young people to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study.

The teachers at Longdon Park School are encouraged to take a creative approach, seeking ways to positively engage with and motivate pupils through lessons that promote learning and raise levels of attainment. Smaller class sizes mean you can focus on building a purposeful learning environment that meets individual educational needs of pupils. You will be joining a supportive and caring team who put a relentless focus on the outcomes of the children and young people in our care.

Educated with UK QTS or Equivalent Teaching Qualification.

We welcome staff who share our commitment to help children experience better days and better lives. Through ongoing development and training, we ensure our staff are well prepared for their jobs and given every opportunity to extend their skills.

Applicants must be UK based.
