Job Title:          Speech and Language Therapist

Location:          Hillcrest Shifnal School, Shifnal, Shropshire

Contract:          Permanent; 52 weeks per year

Hours:              Part Time / Full Time

Salary:              Up to £50,000 per annum (pro rata)

About the role

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house Clinical Team, covering multiple sites across residential care and education in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Staffordshire. Working collaboratively with the sites, you will deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our children and young people with developmental trauma, autism, ADHD, complex and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. 

You will be responsible for holding a speech and language therapy caseload for up to 3 special schools. With the full support of our well-established and knowledgeable Clinical Team, you will also contribute to staff training and consultation. Both a challenging and rewarding role, this position would suit a resilient and enthusiastic individual, with a therapeutic approach and the ability to make decisions, as well as manage their own workload.

Location: Hillcrest Shifnal School, Shropshire as base; travelling to up to 2 other schools within the region as required. Hillcrest Shifnal School specialises in SEMH education for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 19 years old.

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree
  • Valid and up to date HCPC Registration
  • Registered member of RCSLT
  • Previous experience of paid or voluntary work within a trauma, Autism, SEMH or complex needs setting is desirable
  • Clear and concise report writing relating to clinical and research activities
  • UK driving licence, with access to a car is desirable
  • Experience of multi-professional work with teams or services within the designated speciality preferred. Newly qualified candidates will be considered.
  • Ability to work independently
