Job Title:               Outdoor Learning Instructor

Location:               Kinsale School, Holywell, Flintshire

Salary:                   Up to £22,000 per annum (pre-tax take home salary, not pro rata)

Hours:                   Monday to Friday 

Contract:               Permanent, Term-Time

Are you an Outdoor Learning Instructor committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

As an Outdoor Learning Instructor, you will work with a small group of students with very complex needs, who also display challenging behaviour. You will be responsible for planning and delivering Horticulture sessions to students across the school. We are therefore looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and resilient individual who can additionally represent and mentor other Teaching Assistants within our team.

Part-time applicants could be considered.

Duties:

  • Planning and delivering Outdoor Learning sessions to individual students, and small groups of students
  • Providing evidence of progress and assessing students, in collaboration with the class teacher
  • Supporting the class teachers, assisting the students with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour
  • Providing relevant and appropriate support to students, individually or as a group
  • Establishing good relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs

Key Skills Required:

  • Experience of working with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour
  • Willingness to work towards further qualifications as required

Options Kinsale is located in a stunning rural location, overlooking the Dee Estuary. Our school provides specialist education for up to 30 students, aged 8 – 19 having a range of complex needs including ASD, Asperger’s Syndrome and ADHD, in addition to social and communication difficulties.
