Can you enrich the lives of young people as a Kitchen Assistant?

We are looking for a responsible, caring Kitchen Assistant to join our fantastic team at The Tower School in Epping, Essex.  

The purpose is to assist the School Cook/Chef to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, taking care of all aspects of hygiene as well as helping to prepare food. Kitchen Assistants are also responsible for carrying out basic food preparation tasks, such as washing and peeling food. They will also collect and dispose of waste.

  • Assisting with basic food preparation activities, including washing up, peeling and cutting vegetables
  • Cleaning and sanitising all tableware before and after service.
  • Cleaning and washing kitchen appliances such as mixer, utensils and cutters
  • Assist with unloading fresh supplies and organising the storerooms
  • Food service to pupils and staff
  • Ensure all health & safety and food hygiene regulations, including HACCP, are maintained within the kitchen environment
  • Ensuring a good standard of cleanliness is maintained
  • Report behaviour observations to the School Cook/Chef for them to maintain the school’s standard of discipline and behaviour
  • To check, put away and store deliveries correctly
  • Additional duties as directed by the School Cook/Chef

The Tower School is an independent special day school for pupils aged 11-18 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. Our dedicated team, work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who will often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.
