We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media Specialist to join our team. In this role you will drive local customer engagement and build online communities through social media. Working closely with the Digital Engagement & Communications Manager, you'll implement Southern Co-op’s social media strategy across Retail, End of Life Services (Funeralcare) and other businesses.. Working with the wider team, you will generate and curate well written content to drive customer and member engagement, to boost brand awareness and advocacy. You will increase our data acquisition, whilst championing and maintaining our online reputation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Implementation of the company’s social media strategy across all business units ensuring full alignment and integration across all functions including Digital, Marketing, PR, Community, Communications, HR/Recruitment and Customer Services
  • Engage with customers through the use of social media channels (primarily Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & LinkedIn) to drive audience reach and engagement, moderating user generated content and reviews
  • Liaise with the relevant business units such as Customer Service colleagues to ensure provision of timely responses to online customer reviews and comments.
  • Work with the wider team to proactively suggest ways social media can bring the brand to life and add value to campaigns across the business, in turn engaging with our target markets
  • Using social media tactics and channels to promote our Membership offering and All Yours Programme developing loyalty, engagement and increasing footfall in stores or funeral homes.
  • Manage the use of our local store Facebook pages to enable us to engage with customers at a hyper local level, transferring ownership through training to stores who are able to undertake this themselves.
  • Working with the Communications Manager and PR Officer to manage social media in the event of any business continuity actions.
  • Identify, engage, and nurture brand advocates and influencers. Delivering paid and organic influencer campaigns with our brands using in-house tools or agencies.
  • Contribute on the content board team to develop and plan content and campaigns that will be used across a variety of communications channels to drive engagement
  • Ongoing review, improvement and tailoring of content from Co-op Group 
  • Build relationships with other internal departments such as, Membership, Trading and Formats, HR to better understand opportunities to drive content and engagement and to align on KPIs.
  • Work with the Digital Engagement Manager to maintain and refine editorial calendars and ensure they aligned across all key business units
  • Work with the Digital Engagement Manager to help define the most appropriate tools to manage reporting, listening, insight such as  Orlo, Google UTM builder, bit.ly and Google Analytics
  • Monitor and help define overall and per channel KPI’s including reach, engagement (click through, like, share and comment) as well as audience acquisition objectives and benefits (reach, site traffic, sign-ups / conversions) Use data & insights to inform overall social media strategy
  • Devise and maintain effective social measuring programme, delivering monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to key stakeholders across the business.

KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • You will have some previous work experience in this space whether than be within agency or in-house, and be able to demonstrate a strong level of paid, owned & earned social experience.
  • Previous experience of managing social media channels for similar organisations is desirable
  • Online community management and customer service skills to strike the balance between publicity and stimulating direct discussion with potential and actual customers
  • Experience of using enterprise social media management tools (for example; Orlo, Hootsuite, Brandwatch, Social Sprout), and tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Capcut and iMovie. 
  • Strong understanding of social media and how it can deliver value to an organisation, with the ability to grasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively
  • Excellent copywriting skills with impeccable spelling and grammar, and experience in creating engaging content for social media, blogs and more
  • Creative skills with the ability to brainstorm, collaborate with colleagues and contribute innovative ideas
  • Articulate and professional communication skills with the ability and desire to network proactively
  • Ability to work on several campaigns at once, sometimes under pressure and often to tight deadlines
  • Passionate and results driven individual with a customer centric approach
