Location:          Acorn Park School, Norwich

Salary:              £21,000 per annum

Hours:               37.5 hours per week, 8.30am – 4.30pm

About the role:

Acorn Park School are looking for an individual who is excited to work during times of transformative change! Are you interested in and experienced in the field of working with the challenges associated with neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD), complex and developmental trauma and complex needs? Do you want to create a nationally important resource with the substantial backing of one of the leading providers of education and care for young people with SEN? If so, we have the role for you!

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team as a member of a multi-disciplinary team including Speech and Language Therapy/Occupational Therapy and Psychological Therapies. You will be supporting the delivery of high quality educational and clinical provision within the school. To work as a therapies assistant with a more psychological focus under supervision of a qualified practitioner.

Based at Acorn Park School the needs of our pupils vary in levels of functioning, many with a diagnosis of autism as well as associated needs such as complex and developmental trauma. Needs are complex and require a systemic and formulation-based approach. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference to the pupils we care for. Someone who is able to work independently as agreed under supervision, is a good communicator, and is able to work flexibly.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE passes including English at Grade C and above
  • Evidence of relevant post 16 education
  • Willingness to work towards further qualifications as required
  • Experience of group and/or individual therapy contact
  • Experience of paid or voluntary work in a child special needs setting and/or work with young people or adults with complex needs / behaviours that may challenge or mental health needs.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and cope with multiple demands
  • Knowledge of IT systems
