Job Description
The role of Assistant Team Leader is an excellent opportunity to encourage, motivate, and inspire teams of Young People, to make the most of their NCS experience, and help them to develop transferable skills for their future. In this role, you will support a generation of young people to take part in NCS experiences, at pivotal moments in their lives.
Through our community experiences, we are seeking to provide young people with regular activities close to home, giving them more choice, and flexibility, in how they engage with a year-round NCS offer.

Main Duties and Accountabilities
- Leading, encouraging, and motivating a team of up to fifteen young people.
- Working with the NCS staff team, to deal with challenging behaviour from young people - ensuring that any matters for concern are reported immediately to the NCS Team Leader, and supporting the completion of any necessary reporting (such as safeguarding and incident reports).
- Engaging with young people and their parents/carers, to build positive relationships, and providing effective support on a one-to-one or group basis - to achieve NCS outcome targets, and ensure a quality NCS experience for young people.
- Ensuring that programme content is relevant to the local community and builds on existing relationships with partner individuals and organisations – ensuring that community and citizenship values are learnt by young people within their local environment.
- Assisting the NCS Team Leader in ensuring that necessary and appropriate safeguarding, data handling, health and safety, and other legal requirements are in place, to protect NCS participants and staff.
