Are you committed to improving the lives of pupils? We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Teacher to join us at Brick Lane School located in East London.

About the Role

We are looking to appoint a Performing Arts Teacher who is flexible, dynamic and a dedicated individual with experience in working with pupils who have a diagnosis of Autism. 

Previous experience of working in a SEN/ASC environment is desirable, with proven success of implementing specialist strategies to address difficulties in the areas of communication, social interaction, sensory regulation and behaviour that challenges us.  Equally important, somebody with excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience. We need people who share our vision to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK, to be happy and to make their way in the world. We are looking for a Teacher with a passion for inspiring students through creative expression. 

Educated to Qualified Teacher Status, you will be calm, engaging, resilient. Your innovative style of teaching, and adaptive pedagogy will support every pupil to reach their potential. You will be able to teach and potentially lead on 1 or more curriculum area(s).

About the role

  • To ensure a capable learning environment where pupils thrive, have their needs met and have access to positive interactions. 
  • To deliver Performing Arts Lessons to groups of pupils from all abilities across ages 5 - 18 according to their educational needs and levels of ability.
  • To implement the curriculum in accordance with the school’s philosophy and policies. 
  • To secure high quality teaching through effective use of resources and planning. 
  • To be responsible for planning, tracking, evaluating assessing and reporting the teaching and learning of pupils. 
  • To support pupils with acquiring appropriate qualifications
  • To improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Headteacher and SMT.
  • In consultation with the Headteacher/SLT, to undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum
  • To focus on improving of teaching and learning through evaluations and reflection of lesson effectiveness, pupil progress meetings and strategies. 
  • To contribute to a lively and stimulating environment
  • To promote collaboration with teachers, clinical and external agencies and work effectively as a team member
  • To supervise, develop and manage Teaching Assistants relevant to their responsibilities. 
  • To liaise with parents, carers and external agencies as appropriate. 
  • To take an active role in own performance management and professional development including completing actions agreed at review meetings and in personal actions plans.

Brick Lane School (part of the Options Autism Group) in East London is an independent school offering education for pupils aged 5 years to 18 years who all have a primary diagnosis of Autism.  OFG developed a Neurodiversity Strategy (AAD) which informs how we provide education and clinical support for autistic individuals in an environment which is conducive to their strengths and needs. 

The school is located just 10 paces off the vibrant and cosmopolitan Brick Lane which is well served by public transport services including Santander Bikes. The school does have parking for staff however we encourage staff to make use of environmentally friendly alternatives and as a company the cycle to work scheme is available for all employees.

The aim of the school is to provide specialist individual support to each pupil, enabling them to reach their potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives.
