Babcock have been awarded the contract to run and modernise the UK MOD satellite network, Skynet. As part of this programme, we are looking for an experience Satellite Communications Systems Engineer to lead the upgrade of Radio Frequency (RF) and Intermediate Frequency (IF) Systems.Day to day, you’ll be responsible for the design of Radio and Intermediate Frequency systems architecture as well as;Specification of system elementsOverseeing the purchase and installation of equipmentSystem Test and CommissioningSupport to the new service design processSpecifying, purchasing and testing of VSAT terminals, to support the delivery of new servicesThis role is on a full time (37 hours), permanent basis and can be based at either our Bordon or Corsham locations, with a hybrid working arrangement of two days working on site.Essential experience of the Satellite Communications EngineerPrevious experience with a satellite network operatorCurrent knowledge of RF and IF architecture and best design practiceExperience in the specification and delivery of large (9m) satellite terminalsSatellite network system design experienceQualifications for the Satellite Communications EngineerDegree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering DisciplinePlease note that this position is subject to national security vetting.
