OCI Network Reliability Engineering (NRE) is looking for a senior manager to lead a software team responsible for driving operational excellence through automation within the OCI physical network. Due to the nature of the space, this role is a "full-service" opportunity, where duties cover the breadth of working day to day with network and software engineers to build and sustain services and tooling while also working with our partner teams to make it easy for them to manage the OCI network. In this role you will: • Own and develop highly available services • Attract, develop & manage a team of highly skilled engineers • Define and develop roadmaps to deliver operational efficiencies • Establish & report on a body of metrics that define service availability • Solve difficult problems in distributed systems, infrastructure, and highly available services • Collaborate with Network Engineering, Network, Network Monitoring, and the Operations Engineering organizations to deliver a highly available service to our customers • Participate in on call rotation for managers Preferred Requirements • BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience • Experience building scalable, cloud native distributed systems • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment • Understanding of REST Architecture and JSON • Understanding of networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.) • Ability to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing • Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services • Experience with production operations and best practices for putting quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise • Experienced at building highly available services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols Responsibilities In this role you will: • Own and develop highly available services • Attract, develop & manage a team of highly skilled engineers • Define and develop roadmaps to deliver operational efficiencies • Establish & report on a body of metrics that define service availability • Solve difficult problems in distributed systems, infrastructure, and highly available services • Collaborate with Network Engineering, Network, Network Monitoring, and the Operations Engineering organizations to deliver a highly available service to our customers • Participate in on call rotation for managers About Us As a world leader in cloud solutions, Oracle uses tomorrow's technology to tackle today's problems.
