HMV Retail & Commercial Finance Internship - London

This exciting role within the Retail & Commercial Finance team will enable the successful applicant to gain valuable management accounting experience within a busy finance department to compliment their academic studies.
Job description
main duties and responsibilities for the succesful intern will include:> Involvement in the High Street and Internet month end close process to include controllable and Non-Controllable cost lines and employment costs. This may include calculating costs by store and posting monthly accruals / prepayments and investigating variances to budgets and forecasts, providing commentaries where necessary to internal stakeholders.
> Assisting in the preparation of store annual budgets / forecasts. This may include liaising with key stakeholders in the business and presenting explanations for variances to prior year.
> Reconciliation of balance sheets accounts, providing analysis and commentary on the balances, month on month movements and identifying potential risks and opportunities within provisions.
> Assistance in producing weekly and monthly reporting involving store KPIs for HMV UK & Ireland, including sales, stock and margin.
> Point of contact for P&L and other finance queries from internal stakeholders.
> Use of various Finance Systems, including both bespoke and mainstream software.
> Ad-hoc analysis as required.
