Packaging Design Internship with a Lifestyle Company

Job description

This summer we are giving our program a creative edge. We aim to expose our program participants to China's blooming design world by organizing studio visits, art related activities, and guest speaker events by industry leaders. 

Program participants are required to pay a program fee to cover resources:

• Two month program is $4,000 (£2408) 
  
• Three months is $5,000 (£3010) 
  
• Four months is $6,000 (£3613)
  

We are a lifestyle platform that promotes sustainable lifestyle through building restoration, property development, creative collaborations and community building in urban cities. Our first property is currently located in the heart of the capital, an heritage area just south of Forbidden City Beijing. The building was built in the 1950s in an Art-Deco style; the two-story building had become structurally unsound and run down due to years of neglect. The building has since been rejuvenated into a beautifully curated space that covers approximately 360sqm of cutting edge design and environmental sensitivity (227sqm before restoration). 

Founder, Lin Lin is the Founder and Executive Creative Director for Jellymon, a creative agency based in Shanghai and Beijing. Lin Lin has also pioneered bringing contemporary relevance to Chinese heritage products and stories. This has included the redesign and re-launch of the 1970’s mechanical Shanghai Watch in China, Europe and America. Her recent presentation in Beijing International Design Week with a controversial and thought-provoking presentation “Meating Amy”. Lin Lin’s work and point of views have been published in Creative Review, Fast Company, China Daily, Architecture Digest,Leap, The NewYorker, Wall Street Journals, and The New York Times 

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION: 

We are looking for a Packaging Design/ Industrial Design/Graphic Design Intern to join our Beijing team, located in the beautiful historical district of Dashilar, in the heart of Qian Men. The chosen candidate must be able to clearly communicate design ideas through mock-up models, hand-drawings and 3D visualization. Responsibilities consist of conceiving and executing the design of attractive packaging, printed products, marketing materials, catalogs, etc. Will be required to support other members of our team to execute creative concepts into viable solutions. DUTIES:

• Effectively mock-up packages and follow up with production. 
  
• Assist senior designers with the development of drawings necessary to bring products through the conceptual stage, prototype stage and into production 
  
• Work closely with the rest of the team to communicate revisions and design alterations to various projects 
  
• Communicate project status to Design Manager on a regular basis 
  

• College education in Graphic Design or similar 
  
• Competent in Adobe Creative Suite 
  
• Proficient in Sketchup, CINEMA 4D, Auto CAD 
  
• Knowledge of new materials including sustainable alternatives 
  
• Passionate about design and have an interest in emerging technologies 
  
• Good communication and problem-solving skills 
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment on multiple projects
