Rewarding part-time job ideal for arts research students or self-employed with flexible hours in Birmingham

We are looking for art reasearch students or self employed people with flexibility to take on the role of a personal assistant within the Birmingham area.

Job description

Personal Assistant to a disabled woman (2 positions)

As this job involves personal care elements for a woman, it is a genuine occupational requirement that applicants are not men. Applications from women are welcome. Applications from those of other genders will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

You must be resident in or very near to Birmingham year-round for these roles.

I am a young, active disabled postgraduate student in Birmingham.

Your role would be an extremely valuable one, assisting me to live independently on a day-to-day basis. Tasks usually revolve around assisting me to get up in the morning, though the role is very varied. You must be reliable, trustworthy and willing to learn.

Confidentiality is essential.

No experience in the personal assistance or care sector is necessary.

Regular days and hours needed across the two positions are:

Proposed position 1: 6-9 hours over Mon-Weds mornings, plus 2.5-4.5 hours alternate weekend (Fri-Sun) mornings (8-13 hours per week total on average)

Proposed position 2: 2-2.5 hours on a Mon or Fri late morning/lunch time, and holiday or sickness cover for other PAs, which would be paid at a higher rate (2-4 hours per week on average). This position would be ideal for an arts student with very few contact hours, or someone else who can be very flexible and is looking for a small top up in earnings.

There is some flexibility as to the split between the roles: please specify your preference for position 1 or 2, or other specific shifts on application.

Pay would be £9.80 an hour for regular weekday shifts, £11 an hour for weekend shifts, £14 an hour for emergency call outs (less than 12 hrs notice).

Ability to travel to Selly Oak (Weoley Castle side) is essential, as is being comfortable around cats.

If you would like more info please reply with any questions, which I'm happy to answer.

Applications close on Friday 24th April 2017 at midnight. Interviews will be held on Monday 1st May 2017.
