Internship at Auriel Equity Investors LLP

Auriel Equity Investors LLP is looking to hire four university students or graduates who are on track for a 2:1 or above. The position is open to individuals from all subjects however a keen interest in investing is important. The internships will each be two weeks and commence on the 12th of June, 3rd of July, 24th of July, and the 14th of August, each lasting two weeks.

Job description

We are looking for candidates that can think big and creatively in the beginning of the project and have a sufficient attention to detail and respect for deadline at the end of the project. Most importantly, we look for candidates that share our passion to sustainable development and ability of the capital markets to provide a solution various sustainability related challenges

The role is to research and write a report on one of the topics below:

  1. Machine learning in Artificial Intelligence
  2. Biological engineering (biomaterials, bio-mimicry)
  3. Robotics
  4. Advanced materials (nanomaterials, Graphene)

The research outcome should be 3-7 page written summary of the topic, accompanied with as much supporting material (more writing, excel files, collection of links to relevant websites, academic references, libraries of reading materials, slide decks, databases) as needed to answer the key question:

Which (groups of) companies will benefit and which (groups of) companies will lose on this trend in the next 5-10 years and why?

The write up should touch the following:

  • Current state and relevant context?
  • What are the biggest open questions? Which are the most potential solutions?
  • Which are the likely scenario's for the next 3,5 and 10 years?
  • Recommended next steps for research activities and trading for AEI?

Each candidate will have four hours per week for queries to Auriel's Head of Research. This will give interns the opportunity to ask questions, get direction and submit drafts for feedback. In person meetings will take place at our office in Soho, London. For those candidates who are not based in London there is still the opportunity to participate in the internship with support sessions held via Skype.

The internship will be a paid position of £625 for the two weeks with a £500 bonus awarded to the candidate with the best report. We will hold an awards dinner for interns based in London. Please do note however that this internship position will not lead to a job offer.
