About the RoleOn behalf of our client, a leading legal services provider, we are recruiting for a skilled and motivated Casualty Claims Handler to join their team in the North West. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across both litigated and fraudulent EL/PL claims, managing a diverse caseload of delegated and non-delegated authority fixed fee cases for major insurance clients.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced colleagues and Technical Support Lawyers to develop case strategies and make informed liability decisions. This is an ideal role for someone with a forensic mindset and a passion for legal investigation and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of EL/PL claims, including fraud and litigated matters.
- Conduct initial reviews and set claim strategies.
- Handle Pre-action Disclosure Applications and draft legal documents (e.g., Tomlin Orders, Consent Orders, Cost Schedules).
- Review and analyse evidence, including medical and personnel records.
- Conduct investigations, obtain witness statements, and liaise with insured parties and claimant solicitors.
- Instruct Counsel and attend conferences and trials.
- Ensure compliance with client SLAs and SRA Standards & Regulations.
- Support senior handlers and contribute to team success.
- Ability to prioritise, organise, and manage tasks independently.
- Calm under pressure with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong IT and literacy skills.
- Team player with a proactive and flexible approach.
- High level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working to client guidelines on a delegated basis.
- Previous experience handling personal injury or EL/PL claims.
- Legal education (ILEX, LPC) or equivalent experience.
- Litigation and fraud case handling experience.
- Advocacy skills.
