Job description

Job Title: Responsible Individual (RI) – Children’s Residential Care Home

Location: Birmingham

Responsible for: 2 homes


Salary: Up to £450 per day

Working Hours: 1 day per week (approx. 8 hours)


Are you an experienced children’s residential care professional looking to make a meaningful impact with a flexible role? We are seeking a dedicated Responsible Individual (RI) to provide leadership, governance, and oversight for our children’s home, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance.


About the Role:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the children’s home.
  • Ensure full compliance with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards.
  • Support, supervise, and challenge the Registered Manager to drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee safeguarding arrangements and ensure the welfare of children and young people remains central to all decisions.
  • Conduct governance audits and quality assurance checks, reporting regularly to the provider.


About You:

  • Experienced in a senior leadership role within children’s residential care.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, compliance, and care standards.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to challenge and support operational leadership.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification).
  • Previous Responsible Individual experience or similar senior oversight role preferred.
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
