Derivatives Operations Specialist in City of London

Job description

We are seeking a Derivatives Operations Specialist with strong experience in Futures & Options operations to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a brokerage background, a proven understanding of the derivatives trade lifecycle, and the ability to leverage technology to streamline operational workflows. This role requires someone detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end trade lifecycle for Futures & Options products, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation.
• Ensure accurate and timely trade bookings, position management, and P&L reporting.
• Liaise with clearing houses, brokers, and counterparties to resolve trade discrepancies.
• Oversee margin and collateral management processes for derivatives positions.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve breaks in trade and position reconciliations.
• Work closely with technology teams to implement and optimize operations systems and automation tools.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal operational controls.
• Support daily operational reporting and contribute to process improvements.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in derivatives operations, with a focus on Futures & Options.
• Previous experience in a brokerage environment is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of derivatives markets, clearing processes, and operational risk controls.
• Proficiency in using trading and operations platforms (e.g., Fidessa, TT, Murex, Calypso, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data analysis tools or coding (e.g., SQL, Python) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams, external brokers, and clearing partners.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
