Job description

As a Data Protection Contractor for a global financial services firm, you'll be instrumental in developing and executing the regional data protection program. You'll ensure compliance with laws like GDPR and UK GDPR, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership on emerging risks.

Your key deliverables include overseeing daily data protection operations, such as data mapping, privacy impact assessments, and managing data subject access requests. You'll collaborate with technical teams to embed data protection-by-design principles and manage assessments for third-party vendors. You will also lead the implementation and customization of data protection management tools like OneTrust and be responsible for creating data protection metrics and reports. This role involves building strong relationships across the organization to foster a culture of data protection awareness and compliance.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, and other regional data protection regulations, particularly within the financial services sector. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for influencing stakeholders at all levels and effectively managing cross-functional teams. You should be proficient with data protection management platforms like OneTrust and be adept at identifying, prioritizing, and mitigating data protection risks. A degree in a relevant field and data protection certifications such as CIPP/E or CIPM are highly preferred.

You will act as the primary data protection representative for the region, ensuring alignment with the firm's global standards and objectives. This includes leading the strategic development of the EMEA Data Protection Program on a risk-based approach and providing guidance on operational developments. You will also work closely with legal and compliance teams to review and promote understanding of data protection laws, and participate in internal committees to represent data protection interests. Ultimately, you will be a key driver of the organization's data protection goals.
