Interim Legal Counsel (Maternity Cover – 8 months)

Hybrid – London

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team on an 8-month maternity cover contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment, providing high-quality legal support across a variety of business areas.

The Role

You will act as a trusted adviser to internal stakeholders, focusing primarily on commercial contracts, procurement matters, and governance/legal risk management. The role also offers the chance to get involved in wider legal initiatives, including process improvements, policy development and occasional dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating supplier and IT contracts
• Advising on governance, procurement policies, and regulatory compliance
• Supporting business units with day-to-day legal queries
• Managing relationships with external counsel where required
• Contributing to the maintenance and development of legal templates, processes, and departmental initiatives

About You

• UK-qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate (2+ PQE preferred)
• Strong background in commercial contracts, ideally with exposure to procurement and/or IT agreements
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
• Strong understanding of data protection law; financial services experience beneficial but not essential
• Collaborative, detail-oriented, and able to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
