Can you help to build sustainable communities? Are you someone who believes in putting the customer first?


We are currently recruiting for a Community Engagement Officer to cover the Leicestershire and North Warwickshire areas. As a Community Engagement Officer, you will be working closely with customers to build strong and safe communities organising and developing a wide range of community engagement activities and projects.


Where is the role based?


The role will cover a patch around Leicestershire and Warwickshire that includes approximately 5,000 properties. This will include places such as Leicester, Warwick, Rugby, Hinckley, Nuneaton and North Warwickshire.


Most of your week will be spent on patch in our communities or in our offices in either Birmingham Business Park or Worcester. There will be approximately one day per week working from home.


What can you expect from the role?


You will work within the community to establish contact with people from all sections of the community through meetings and outreach work to identify local issues and to work together on solutions.


By understanding the needs of the local communities, you will be able to support and manage community-based programmes to promote a healthy and happy environment for all our customers. You will be responsible for organising and developing a wide range of community engagement activities in line with our strategic objectives.


Teamwork is key to everything we do here at Platform Housing Group, and we believe those teams don't just include ourselves and our customers but a range of organisations, as well as working with these partners including local authorities and community partners & stakeholders.


What are we looking for in you?


  • Previous experience working within a community-based role or role that was directly involved in supporting projects and programmes designed to help people and communities grow.
  • Be a people person, communication will be key to this role not only for working with our customers but also for working with external stakeholders.
  • Understand some of the unique challenges faced within social housing and understand our beliefs and values as an organisation.
  • Proven ability to actively identify new ways to engage successfully with customers and communities.
  • Experience of empowering communities to find solutions would be advantageous.
  • Due to the nature of the role the successful applicant will have a DBS check carried out before commencing employment.
  • The successful applicant will also need to be able to drive and have access to a vehicle. Whilst part of the role will be home-based you will be expected to regularly travel to the communities within the Leicestershire and North Warwickshire areas. We are unable to consider applications from applicants outside of this area.
