Job Title: Trade Compliance Specialist

Location: Southampton, UK

We are looking for a highly experienced Trade Compliance Specialist who can step in and deliver from day one. This is a hands-on role requiring deep knowledge of UK Export Control, customs, and global trade regulations. You will take ownership of compliance processes and act as the subject matter expert for the business.

• Immediate Ownership
  • Lead all trade compliance activities with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure full adherence to UK Export Control and international trade regulations.
• Export Control & Licensing
  • Manage SPIRE / LITE applications and maintain export licences.
  • Classify goods (dual-use, military) and advise on complex shipments.
• Risk & Compliance
  • Conduct due diligence and resolve compliance issues quickly.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement best practices.
• Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as the go-to expert for internal teams and external partners.
  • Deliver training and guidance to ensure compliance awareness.
    
    

• Proven Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 + years in trade compliance, ideally in aerospace, defence, or high-value manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Export Control, sanctions, and customs.
• Skills
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions confidently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Desirable
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and global trade regulations.
