HR Business Partner (Corporate & Schools)

Location: Bridgend (Hybrid Working)

Contract: Full-Time, 6-Month Initial Contract (Potential for Extension/Perm)

Start Date: ASAP (Immediate starts available)



The Opportunity

Randstad UK is partnering exclusively with our client to source two experienced and commercially minded HR Business Partners. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a high-impact, immediate-start contract, where you will play a crucial role in delivering strategic HR support across corporate directorates and local schools.

The successful candidate will be stepping into a challenging and rewarding position, leading the HR response on complex, high-volume Employee Relations (ER) casework and key change management initiatives.


Key Responsibilities and Focus Areas

Your primary accountability will be providing lead support and professional advice on complex individual casework, including:

  • Employee Relations (ER) Casework: Leading on matters relating to discipline, grievance, capability, safeguarding absence, performance management, and redundancies.
  • Change Management: Being accountable for the delivery of lead HR support on service transformation programmes, restructures, and the design of alternative service models, including TUPE.
  • Advisory & Coaching: Providing front-line advisory and coaching support to managers and headteachers to optimise performance, attendance, and the consistent application of HR policy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Working in partnership to promote effective and harmonious employee relations across the Authority, including liaising with trade unions.


The Ideal Candidate (Essential Criteria)

To hit the ground running, the Council requires a candidate who meets the following essential criteria:

  • Qualifications: Chartered CIPD qualified OR able to demonstrate competence through considerable equivalent experience.
  • ER Expertise: Proven professional HR generalist experience , specifically with a track record in a range of employee relations practices and the development of related policies.
  • Legal Knowledge: Sound knowledge of employment law and its practical application.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience of building effective relationships with trade union colleagues.
  • Mobility: Must have a Full Driving Licence and access to a vehicle to attend in-person meetings across the County Borough.
  • Language Requirement: The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.


Working Arrangement

This is a hybrid role, combining home working with essential office presence:

  • Remote Working: Primarily working from home.
  • Office Requirement: Required to attend the office every Thursday and travel to schools/sites when required for casework meetings.
  • Support: You will be comfortable working autonomously but will have full support from the wider HR/OD team.
