Managing Quantity Surveyor – Residential Developer

A leading London-based developer is looking to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial function as the business continues to scale. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, values clear process, and knows how to run a tight commercial ship without cutting corners.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of the commercial and cost management across a diverse residential portfolio, overseeing multiple live sites while guiding and developing the commercial team beneath you. Expect genuine autonomy, a direct line into senior leadership, and the chance to influence how the commercial department evolves over the next few years.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial strategy across several projects from pre-construction through final accounts
• Manage and mentor QSs, promoting high standards, consistency, and accountability
• Oversee procurement, tendering and contract administration
• Drive cost control, risk management and financial reporting
• Maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders
• Ensure projects are delivered on budget, aligned with programme, and compliant with company standards

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior or Managing QS within residential development or main contracting
• Sharp commercial judgement and a traditional, detail-driven approach to cost control
• Confident leading teams and managing several projects simultaneously
• Strong communicator who can influence up, down and sideways
• Enjoys a busy pipeline and a business where you can actually make a mark
