We're working with a well-established regional law firm, recruiting a Legal Assistant to join the Conveyancing team in their Chester office. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual looking to gain hands-on experience early in their legal career and work closely with senior fee earners on a range of residential and commercial property transactions.
Responsibilities include
- Reviewing initial documents received from clients
- Checking signatures against ID documents and completing risk assessments
- Requesting property searches and raising/replying to enquiries as directed by fee earners
- Corresponding with clients, brokers, estate agents, solicitors, and other third parties
- Reviewing and reporting on mortgage offers and lender requirements
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents and reports
- Obtaining and reviewing proof and source of funds and wealth
- Arranging draft and final indemnity insurance policies
- Calculating and completing SDLT returns
- Preparing completion statements, requesting deposits and mortgage funds, and making payments
- Handling post-completion matters, including Land Registry applications and title updates
- Raising bills, archiving files, and maintaining accurate client and transaction records
- Assisting fee earners with file management, calls, and administrative tasks
- Supporting the exchange and completion of transactions
