About The RoleBalfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our Old Oak Common development in London – join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.
HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.
Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide highspeed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.
What you'll be doing
- All duties required by the commercial department or project team, to ensure successful setup and running of the Old Oak Common project in compliance with all company standards.
- Advise the Package Manager and QS / Senor QS early, of any potential over-spends, non-compliances and any other problem areas on the Old Oak Common Project.
- Assist with the QS / Commercial Department and Project Team with the preparation of the monthly project reports (KPI/PMI).
- Support preparation of the monthly Applications and Invoicing to ensure submission in a timely manner of an accurate document aimed at maximising the project financial position;
- Support with notifying your client early of any increased project value or delay to project completion;
- Meet with your clients representative as and when required;
- Assist with the collection of cash and pursuit of certificates from clients in a timely manner, in order to maximise the project cash flow position;
- Take responsibility for ensuring inputting of Applications and invoices (recording accurately) onto the project accounts system (where applicable) including payment certificates
- NVQ level 5 (if Possible)
- CSCS card (if possible)
- Some previous relevant experience in quantity surveying is required. Membership of a relevant professional body and/or working towards a relevant professional qualification is desirable, such as RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICES/CIBSE.
