We’re seeking a skilled Designer to join our Tapered Roofing team in a full-time, permanent role. This position offers hybrid working flexibility, with only occasional visits to our head office in Pembridge, Herefordshire required each month.

Overview of the Tapered Roofing Designer position

As our Tapered Roofing Designer, you will provide a design service for Kingspan external clients and internal departments. You will be supporting Kingspan sales by facilitating the following to the client’s requirements and needs, and offering best advice and practice to achieve solutions within our product range:

• Thermal performance confirmation;
• Compatibility of the detail’s elements within application;
• Flat roofing drainage solutions.

Your responsibilities as our Tapered Roofing Designer:

• Designing Tapered system schemes for the clients (architects, main contractors and subcontractors) through best practice considering thermal performance, elements compatibility and commercial expectations. Each design opportunity having correct material whilst achieving the required thermal performance (‘U’ value) to client’s specification and design intent.
• Drilling specifications to achieve clients’ requirements.
• Where the client’s design intent is flawed in their application of principles, offer best practical advice clearly stating reasoning and confirm with appropriate documentation.
• Chasing correct information through contact lines (where required) between architects, main contractors, subcontractors and distribution.
• Designing efficient board layouts using standard (and non-standard where applicable) products. Checking availability before incorporation within the scheme design, when non-standard boards are required.
• Project documentation; create a clear historical record for each project from commencement to delivery.
• Facilitating supply of materials by providing drawing B.O.M. To deadlines via board counts – Complete or Phased. Board counts allowing appropriate wastage to complete finished scheme to client’s instructions.
• Pass information to other departments through the use of the company’s CRM system; Drawings / Quotes, Thermal Calculations and Board Counts.
• Complete drawings for site use / instruction; waterproof drawings / site drawings / letter.

What we are looking for in our Tapered Roofing Designer:

You will have:

• Previous design experience
• Drawing experience using a known design package
• Basic understanding of building practices
• Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications
• Excellent communication skills to include telephone, email, drawings and other media formats
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Strong organisational and efficiency skills – excellent time management
• Ability to work under pressure
• Must have excellent attention to detail

Whilst not essential, it would be desirable for you to have:

• An understanding of contractual lines
• Knowledge of building physics
• Previous experience of using a CRM system
