Job description

A day in the life of an Ascent Courseware Development Specialist

Working from storyboards you will collaborate with the media team and subject matter experts to create engaging courseware. This includes a range of lesson types – CBT (eLearning), CAI (instructor led), phase guides, course manuals and exams.

As a Courseware Development Specialist, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team of instructional designers. You will be responsible for the development of high-quality courseware, working alongside subject matter experts, technical experts and media developers to maximise learning outcomes, providing Ascent trainees with a world-class learning experience.

You will:

  • Work in close collaboration with multiple specialists to ensure timely delivery of courseware and courseware updates
  • Ensure that innovation and continuous improvement is embedded in the production and maintenance of courseware
  • Be working in partnership with our customer, other stakeholders and positively promote a partnering ethos
  • Be able to develop courseware in military specific LCMS authoring software

Additional:

  • You must be able to achieve UK security clearance for this role
  • Candidates who can work in North Bristol two days per week are preferred, however remote UK workers will be considered
  • Candidate will be required to produce a small interview task

What Will Make You Successful

You will be willing to be part of a friendly team and work collaboratively with other departments. Have a high level of IT competency and be familiar with LCMS authoring software. You will already have experience working as an imaginative instructional/courseware designer and be familiar with dealing with SMEs and media developers. You will have strong written communication skills, with an eye for detail.

  • Have experience of producing courseware to exacting standards within a customer-focused timeframe
  • Be able to demonstrate your ability to liaise closely with SMEs and technical specialists
  • Maintain courseware design styles and standards
  • Ideally hold a relevant degree or have equivalent experience
  • Ensure that all material used has suitable copyright clearance and attribution
