Job description

Technical Designer — Museum Design Agency

Salary: £55,000

Location: Fully Remote (Europe-based)

Are you a technically minded designer with a passion for bringing cultural and museum environments to life? We’re a specialist museum design agency known for creating innovative, story-driven spaces — and we’re looking for a talented Technical Designer to join our team.

About the Role

This is a key delivery-focused position for a well-rounded technical generalist with strong experience across RIBA Stages 4–7. You will play a central role in turning concept designs into fully resolved, buildable solutions and ensuring their successful implementation on site.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Producing and coordinating detailed technical drawing packages in collaboration with internal design, technical, and project management teams.
  • Working closely with specialist subcontractors and client-appointed consultants to integrate technical requirements and ensure coordinated outputs.
  • Resolving design details, identifying risks, and ensuring technical decisions uphold the design intent.
  • Supporting on-site implementation, including attending site meetings, responding to RFIs, reviewing samples and shop drawings, and assisting with installation coordination.
  • Contributing to quality control, compliance, and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Maintaining excellent communication between all stakeholders to keep technical delivery smooth and efficient.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is both detailed and creative — a designer who thrives in the technical delivery phase and enjoys solving problems in complex, multidisciplinary environments.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience delivering projects through RIBA Stages 4–7, ideally within museums, exhibitions, or experiential environments.
  • Strong proficiency in producing coordinated technical drawing packages.
  • Excellent understanding of materials, construction methodologies, fabrication processes, and on-site workflows.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, fabricators, and specialist suppliers.
  • A collaborative mindset and confidence working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivation and comfort working independently in a fully remote environment.

What We Offer

  • £55,000 salary
  • Fully remote working anywhere in Europe
  • Opportunities to work on high-profile museum and cultural projects around the world
  • A supportive, creative team that values innovation, clarity, and craftsmanship
  • Professional development opportunities tailored to your interests
