VAT Accountant | Hybrid (Leeds) | £35,000 - £45,000

An organisation based in Leeds are seeking an experienced VAT Accountant to support key finance operations. This Leeds-based role (with flexible hybrid working) offers the chance to join a high-performing finance team within a fast-moving, innovative environment.

About the Role

You’ll work as part of the Group Finance team, supporting external financial reporting with a strong focus on VAT. This role also gives you the opportunity to drive continuous improvement across finance processes and contribute to wider transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit domestic and foreign VAT returns and tax reports across multiple jurisdictions
• Follow up on VAT refunds and initiate VAT payments
• Reconcile VAT GL accounts and review VAT-to-revenue reconciliations
• Support responses to tax authority queries
• Provide VAT insight and guidance to internal stakeholders
• Monitor VAT legislation changes and assess business impact
• Liaise with tax teams, service providers and external advisors
• Support accurate VAT reporting in collaboration with finance, accounting and operations
• Assist with corporate tax filings and wider regulatory reporting
• Support internal and external audits
• Contribute to improving processes, procedures and controls

About You

• Able to manage pace, deadlines and competing priorities
• Clear, logical thinker with strong analytical capability
• Fully qualified or part-qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent)
• Solid indirect tax experience
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
