Interim Financial Controller (3–6 Months) – Global Retail Business

An entrepreneurial, international retail/e-commerce business is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to support the organisation on a contract position.

Based in London and working closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team, you will take ownership of day-to-day financial operations and deliver accurate, timely reporting across multiple international entities. You’ll play a crucial part in maintaining financial stability, strengthening controls, and overseeing the finance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting and financial operations across multiple entities.
• Produce accurate monthly group management accounts, including multi-currency consolidation and variance analysis
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards, VAT/sales tax, and regulatory requirements
• Deliver clear sales reporting and margin analysis to support commercial decision-making
• Lead budgeting and forecasting activities, offering actionable insights to leadership
• Partner with operational and commercial teams to enhance financial processes and improve performance
• Manage and develop the finance team

About You

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager in a high-growth retail environment
• Strong technical background with group consolidation and multi-currency reporting experience
• Knowledge of VAT, sales tax, FX, stock, and cross-border compliance
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating autonomously
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
• Professionally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)

This is an interim position and therefore, you would need to be available to start immediately.
