Job description

Corporate (M&A / US Practice) – London | High-End Cross-Border Deals

Rutherford is partnered with a leading global practice to appoint an experienced US-qualified Corporate M&A Associate to join its top-tier London transactional team.

This group is known across the market for advising on strategic, high-value, and first-of-their-kind transactions, regularly acting opposite major US firms and Magic Circle teams. Virtually all matters are cross-border, offering exceptional exposure to international dealmaking across multiple industries and jurisdictions.

If you're looking to join a team operating at the highest levels of the global M&A market, this is an outstanding opportunity.

The work

The role sits within a leading US Corporate group in London, with a focus on:

  • Public and private M&A (strategic, cross-border, and market-defining transactions)
  • Joint ventures, minority investments, and strategic partnerships
  • Corporate governance, securities, and board-level advisory work
  • Supporting major corporates, sponsors, investment institutions, and sovereign entities on complex, high-stakes matters

Associates in this team gain exposure to high-profile matters across tech, financial services, industrials, life sciences, and energy, often advising on transactions that set new market precedents.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a US-qualified associate with strong experience in a recognised US M&A practice. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A solid background in cross-border public and private M&A
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and deal-management skills
  • Ability to manage client relationships and handle day-to-day corporate advisory work
  • Confidence working in a fast-moving, high-performing international environment
  • Strong academic credentials and a collaborative mindset

This is best suited for lawyers comfortable taking ownership of complex workstreams while maintaining a commercial, solutions-focused approach.

Why this role?

You’ll join one of London’s standout US Corporate teams — known for:

  • Acting on the market’s most high-profile, strategically important deals
  • Exposure to complex first-of-their-kind transactions
  • Working directly with elite partners and global deal teams
  • Exceptional international client base
  • True progression, responsibility, and visibility

For US-qualified corporate lawyers looking to elevate their cross-border transactional career, this role offers a rare combination of deal quality, global reach, and top-tier training.
