We are recruiting a Head of Knowledge and Information Management Operations to join and lead the Knowledge and Information Management function that forms part of DCMS’ DDaT Directorate and is business critical team within the Chief Technology Officer Division.


Job description

This role will have exposure to all functions and directorates within DCMS, and will work with the Departmental Records Officer, in managing the departments knowledge and information management digital and non-digital estate. Leading a team of 3, in supporting DCMS to work more effectively by implementing information management policies to enable the department to demonstrate compliance with legislation and policies.


Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor internal compliance of information governance, improve information and knowledge management and safeguard DCMS' information.
  • Review, maintain and introduce new processes for the lifecycle management of DCMS’ digital and physical information assets and records.
  • Work collaboratively with the DRO and across DDaT to manage the implementation of policies, adopting a user centered approach to work.
  • Manage the backlog of physical files and using digital delivery techniques to develop new approaches and delivery methods to select and transfer digital records to The National Archives.
  • Actively work with others to understand and mitigate information risk, build relationships and foster a collaborative environment with colleagues across data protection, cyber security, IT and governance.
  • Perform contract management responsibilities for a number of key contracts, monitor and measure contract performance to ensure third parties provide value for money and the delivery of the desired service and daily budget management responsibilities.
